Wow, it's August already!

Well, I've been in Golden for over three months, wow!  We stayed around Golden for a lot of this month since we had a bunch of visitors which was nice.

Cooper is really enjoying our van, Milli.  Our last trip, he got somewhat used the campfire crackling and popping.  He also helped himself to a seat at the table when we were enjoying a nice steak dinner.

Our campground is also a landing site for paragliders and hang gliders, so we have lots of traffic in the air above us.  Steve, nor I have tried this......yet.

Since we had a few visitors this month, we did more hiking around Golden.  We hiked up Lower Bugaboo Falls, another waterfall near Cedar House Chalets and since it is still quite hot -- Cooper did numerous pond swims to cool off.  We did do a quick trip to Kamloops - we stayed at Paul Lake.

A visitor at Paul Lake -- Cooper was quite curious.

We are ready to hike up Canyon Creek Trail.

We are heading into our last couple of weeks working at Golden Riverside Campground.  Yes, there was a name change over the summer.  It's been an awesome summer of adventures and we can't wait to see what is next!!

Introducing Milli VAN-illi!

So, Steve drove Milli, our Grand Hiace campervan to Golden, BC at the end of June!  She was purchased in the fall in Edmonton, but she went straight into the garage for the winter.

Introducing Milli VAN-illi!

Our first trip with the new van was to Revelstoke.  Well, actually just outside of Revelstoke at a campground on Lake Revelstoke.  We drove through a bit of a storm on our way.  Cooper decided he needed me to be his human Thunder jacket.

Largest lap dog in BC! My legs were cramping, but I was still smiling.

Our campsite was right on the water -- Cooper loved it, and so did we!

View from the back of the van (see the lake).

One of the best sunsets I've ever seen.

We stayed around Golden, BC for our last days off.  We hiked up Mount 7 which is a popular site for mountain biking, hiking as well as paragliding & hang gliding (yes, people come from all over the world to jump off this mountain).

The views from the Mount 7 Summit.

The last week has been really hot in Golden, BC (not a complaint), but the mosquitos have also ramped up as well.  The campground is near full most weekends (we have just under 100 sites).  The summer is moving along at a decent pace as we are already starting to prepare for the August long weekend as we are near capacity (I think just a handful of tent sites left).

Getting a photo of the three of us is challenging!!

Adventures In Golden

Yes, we are living in Golden, BC this summer. We are working at a campground called The Ranch (formerly Eco Adventure Ranch) and it looks like we could have another name change as owners recently changed over.  We are doing everything and anything with regards to campground operations - booking campers, mowing grass (like many, many acres), cleaning up after campers, splitting wood (as we are hoping to have campfires all summer) and really anything else to keep campers happy!

The campground is located about 7km south of Golden, BC, just off of Highway 95.  You would pass our turn off if you were leaving Golden and heading towards Radium Hot Spring.

So why did we decide to do this? Well, I was looking on their website to see if online booking was open earlier this year and instead noticed the "hiring for summer positions".  I send an email and it all seems to work out from being able to keep teaching via Zoom to allowing Cooper to join us to living in the mountains just steps away from the trails.  Like they say -- the stars aligned perfectly for this adventure to work out.

We are working a fairly normal work week, except our days off right now tend to be Tuesday/Wednesday.  We have hiking trails about 1km away from our doorstep, so that is great for getting out in the morning or evening after dinner.  We are trying to explore the surrounding area on our days off unless we have visitors coming.  We've ventured to Revelstoke, explored the trails nearby to Cedar Lake Campground (about 16km round trip) and the local trails in town (so many).

Steve & Breanne at Mount Revelstoke. Hike ended quickly because we hit snow.

You can hike up to this nearby canyon in less than one hour from the campground.
Option, continued to Cedar Lake.

This guy joined the fun in June!

We will attempt to keep updating the blog with photos and details about some of our adventures, especially when Milli gets here!!
